Very powerful performances and of course Elvis’ voice is unmatched. He was made to sing Gospel and he puts his heart into every performance. The only Grammies he won were for his Gospel recordings. I know there are many Elvis Gospel collections available, but this one is his best single CD Gospel collection! To top this one you would have to get the 2 CD “Amazing Grace” or the 3 CD “Peace in the Valley” set.
The 2007 release is slightly different than the original “Elvis Ultimate Gospel” CD released in 2004. On the 2007 version they added two songs “In My Father’s House” and “An Evening Prayer” and deleted “Miracle Of The Rosary”. I guess you could say it is the Protestant version of “Elvis Ultimate Gospel”. If you like Gospel music and don’t want to spend a lot of money on multi-CD releases, I highly recommend this CD.
The CD was a minor hit in the US when it was first released in 2004, reaching 9 on the Top Christian Albums chart and 30 on the Country Albums chart. It would eventually be certified GOLD by the RIAA.

This is the best single-disc compilation of Elvis’ Gospel songs that you can get. The sound is very good, too. Even though these songs are gospel, they have a quality that transcends gospel and would have a lot of appeal to those interested in secular music. I highly recommened this to anyone and especially Elvis fans.

I just picked up this CD, and as a huge Elvis fan, I am happy to have a lot of this gospel material included from the original mastertapes. What they have done reveals a lot of subtle features that previous releases did not.The reason I can’t give it 5 stars is that I think they left off a few songs that are essential to ANY gospel compilation. Stand By Me, I Believe, and Where No One Stands Alone are songs I think could have been used in place of a few of the later gospel songs. But, I love what is here, and the sound and packaging is great. If you don’t want to shell out for the 2 CD Amazing Grace or the 3 CD Peace In The Valley, this is a nice introduction to Elvis’ gospel.

I’m a Big Fan of Elvis Presley, but since BMG has purchased RCA, they started to rewapp the old albums with new liner notes, and it’s impposible for me to get all of them. But this “Ultimate gospel” album is worthy to be taken. It has the most famous gospel which Elvis sang, like “How Great Thou Art”, “Amazing Grace”(I consider it as the best version), “Joshua Fit The Battle”, etc. And it’s been remastered from original tapes,so sound quality is good, too.
If you can get only one gospel album of Elvis Presley, this is the one!

Josh Wilson’s debut album Trying to Fit the Ocean in a Cup” included the Top 10 radio hit, “Savior Please,” and also included stand-out songs “3 Minute Song”, ” and “Tell Me”. Josh’s great blend of personal lyrics and catchy music emerges as a focal point of Josh’s sophomore album, “Life Is Not A Snapshot”. This seven-song collection reflects Josh’s great ability for framing questions of faith into musical expressions of trust. Opening song “Sing” showcases Josh’s guitar playing and singing skills with a song that encourages listeners to `sing to the One who is our King’ with the bridge “Jesus, Jesus, our Emmanuel, God is with us now”. The song gets me in the mood to start singing songs of praise in anticipation of the Christmas season, and is the current single from the album.
“Before The Morning” is another upbeat song and includes the album title in the lyrics “And hold on, cause there’s good for those who love God, But life is not a snapshot, It might take a little time but you’ll see the bigger picture”. I also really enjoyed singing along with the great upbeat song “Listen”, which reminded me of “Something To Say” by Matthew West. The ballad “Do You Want To Know” really reminds me of the great song “A Million Raindrops” from Bebo Norman’s self-titled album last year. It is a very introspective song and makes you think about the needy we encounter all around us and challenges us “If you want heart of sympathy then pray to God to help you see”.
I also really enjoy the song “How To Fall”, another personal song and catchy melody similar to “Tell Me” from Josh’s first album. Next is the intimate ballad, “Right in Front of Me”, which really hit me with the great expression of faith “I want a miracle, something impossible, So would you help me to believe
When You say everything that’s right in front of me, Is all the proof I’ll ever need”. The album closes with Josh’s excellent instrumental acoustic guitar performance of the world’s most famous hymn, “Amazing Grace,” “We may live in snapshot moments,” Josh says, “but those moments are not Life. Life is not one point in time but all of the points in time between drawing our first and last breaths. Because we have experienced the faithfulness of God in the past we can be secure in the present and trust in the One who holds the future.”
Josh writes catchy folk-pop style melodies and story-songs and if you like Above The Golden State, Bebo Norman, Matthew West and Jason Gray, then you should really enjoy Josh Wilson. My favorites are “Sing”, “Before The Morning”, “Do You Want To Know”, “Listen” and the great instrumental version of “Amazing Grace”.

Josh Wilson has a way of sounding like all his songs could be radio hits without them being lame or coated with a plasticy pop-culture sheen. His lyrics are fairly original, true to the Bible, and well-crafted. The music and voice are pleasant to listen to. I wouldn’t necessarily be surprised to see this young man’s music make it ‘mainstream.’

While driving home from my sister’s house three hours away I happened to catch Josh Wilson on the radio. I tuned in to the station in the middle of his “Amazing Grace” rendition and was captivated by the song’s haunting beauty. I kept listening to his interview hoping to catch the name of the artist to look up later. They finally it as he went into “Right in Front of Me”. I started to cry while listening to it. Those two songs alone are worth buying this CD. Of course all the others are wonderful too, but those two have a powerful message and wonderful music. I ordered both this CD and his first, “Trying to Fit the Ocean in a Cup” as soon as I got home. If you are searching for God or just need a little reminding that we are not alone, you’ll love this CD. I can’t wait to hear what he comes out with next.

Another great CD from Josh Wilson! Less songs than the first one, but all very encouraging and well written. I recommend both of his CDs (Trying to Fit the Ocean in a Cup). Love this artist!

I got and fell in love with Josh Wilson’s debut CD last year, so when he released his short follow up, I had to get it. It is only seven tracks long, but it’s also much cheaper than a full length CD, so it all evens out. And the songs here are well worth getting.
The CD actually opens with the Christmas influenced “Sing.” It was actually part of an MP3 release he did last Christmas. But the song works well for the entire year. The song is a praise song to the God who has saved us, but also a reminder of how much we needed Him to save us. It’s a nice mid tempo track that will get stuck in your head. Trust me, you won’t mind.
The title is pulled from the next song, “Before the Morning.” It’s a pop ballad written to someone dealing with the struggles in life, reminding them that God is still there and will bring them through this challenge.
“Listen” and “How to Fall” are the upbeat tracks of the disc. The first is a very honest admission that he needs to listen to God more. The second is a very fun love song.
“Do You Want to Know” is really the only track I don’t love here, but I have a feeling that is because it convicts me. The slower song is about the needs we overlook daily as we go about our lives.
“Right in Front of Me” is another slow song as Josh pleads with God for some proof to help ground his faith. It’s a very honest song, and I identify with it more than I should.
The disc ends with a dueling guitar instrumental version of “Amazing Grace.” It’s very well done and great to listen to.
I always love it when a new artist releases a great second disc, and that’s the case here. Josh’s lyrics are still sharp and identifiable. There is a hint of rock in his pop/folk music that will continue to appeal to the fans he made with his first release. And if you are looking for a great new artist to try, look no further.
